Pacquiao Manny will win on Round 10… - Roach

Although world-class trainer Freddie Roach readily admits that Miguel Cotto will be the most difficult fight to date for pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao, his confidence in his star pupil remains unwavering. At yesterday’s press conference to kickoff the promotional tour, a fan shouted out to Roach, asking for his prediction for the fight. Without saying a word, Roach simply smiled and held up ten fingers, hinting that the bout would not go past the tenth round.

In previous interviews, Roach has offered nothing but praise for the Puerto Rican superstar, admitting that Cotto’s size and strength would likely prevent a knockout victory. “This is the hardest fight of our life. I believe that 100%. I don’t think we can win by knock out this time. I think we will win via a decision. This guy is a game, tough guy. He has already been in camp for three weeks. If he wins this fight everything bad that has happened in his career goes away. This is the fight of his life,” Roach stated as he spoke to Scott Dryden of profighting-fans.com.

The fact that Roach suggested that the fight wouldn’t go the distance is a stark contrast to what he’s been saying thus far. Now that he’s reunited with Pacquiao after last speaking to him nearly four weeks ago, perhaps Roach is feeling more confident knowing that training will begin shortly. “We begin September 20th and that will give us eight weeks, which is our normal period of training. We’re already running in the mornings, but I don’t want to start too early. We always start eight weeks before and that’s what we will do,” Roach added.

With the promotional tour officially started, it appears that both Pacquiao and Roach are now on the same page as they begin to focus on the task at hand come November 14th. Having already predicted the outcome of Pacquiao’s fights with Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya, it will be truly amazing if another one of Roach’s predictions comes to fruition. If Pacquiao can stop Cotto in ten, he’ll leave little room for argument that he truly is the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet

Movie Summary:

The early word is that the film is a sci-fi, comedy kung-fu movie. Pacquiao plays the main character who develops super powers to fight his arch nemesis played by Batista.

This looks like something worthwhile to watch. More like a “Kung Fu Hussle”, “Shaolin Soccer” type of film. Which is GOOD! I’ve had enough with Philippine movies making drama and corny love stories. This looks like a good change.

“In my opinion Floyd is No.1,” Marquez was quoted as saying by Yahoo Sports . “He is still unbeaten and still No.1. Pacquiao has never truly beaten me, I feel that in my heart. I want to fight the best and that is why I wanted to fight Floyd.”

Mayweather vs Marquez takes place at the catch-weight of 144-pounds. Marquez says that a good game plan has been drawn out to beat Mayweather.

“I have already got a good game plan for Mayweather, and I am building a lot of muscle,” Marquez said. “I am working out lifting different rocks and to get my body ready for the fight because strength will be one of the keys this time and I am confident I will be able to match him.

“Floyd has a very different style and he is harder to hit than Pacquiao. But we are working on different combinations so I can land punches and break through that defense.”

My Personal Notes

Marquez seems to be suffering from denial and can’t accept the fact that Manny Pacquiao have beaten him. Though good fighters considers defeat as being knocked out, he wasn’t knocked out on his fight with Pacquiao, only decision. Maybe that is why he is behaving that way. Since, he’ll be fighting against the “former best” in boxing generation, lets see how he does.

After Manny Pacquiao destroyed Ricky Hatton on Saturday night, most of the post-fight talk centered on the likelihood of Pacquiao fighting the winner of the July 18 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez. But Shane Mosley, the top welterweight in the world, thinks he should be Pacquiao’s next opponent.

“I’m definitely campaigning for a fight with Manny Pacquiao,” Mosley said in an interview with inthiscornertv.com. “That would be a great fight the world wants to see. He’s definitely No. 1 pound for pound right now, I’m the No. 1 welterweight right now and I’ve been pound-for-pound before, so let’s get it on. … I’ll be ready.”

But will Pacquiao be ready for Mosley? Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, says that Pacquiao’s next fight will be whatever makes for the biggest fight for the most money. Roach added that if Mosley wants that fight, he’ll have to lose a few pounds, because Pacquiao doesn’t want to move all the way up to 147.

My own opinion is that Pacquiao vs. Mayweather needs to happen, and I’ll be a little disappointed if Pacquiao’s next opponent is anyone other than Mayweather. But it’s not Pacquiao’s fault that Mayweather vs Marquez happened first, and if Pacquiao decides he doesn’t want to wait around for the next two and a half months to see how Mayweather vs. Marquez turns out, who can blame him?

And if that’s Pacquiao’s decision, I think Mosley is probably the opponent who makes the most sense. He’s a well-known, marketable boxer who’s coming off a big win over Antonio Margarito, and his style should make for an interesting fight with Pacquiao. If the next opponent for Pacquiao isn’t Mayweather, it should be Mosley.

It was a quick 2 rounds and ended in a beautiful knock out. Two knockdowns from round 1 is already a good sign that Hatton won’t take it anymore when Pacquiao unleashes his powerful left. And come round 2, that devil left came rushing it and brought Hatton down to the canvas.

The Fight Ended 10 seconds before round 2 ends. And the ref declared a Knockout. Manny Pacquiao Wins his 6th championship belt.

After the Fight

British boxer Ricky Hatton has been given the all clear from a brain scan after being knocked out in the second round of his Las Vegas fight against Manny Pacquiao.

The fight was billed as a battle for the title of best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but proved to be a very one-sided affair.

Hatton came out all guns blazing in the first round but was floored twice by the Filipino southpaw and looked to be in big trouble before the bell went.

The second round saw Pacquiao connect with a huge left hook that completely poleaxed the Mancunian and ended proceedings without the need for a count.

Hatton was given medical attention in the ring but ultimately managed to get to his feet and walk away unaided.

After the fight, Pacquiao claimed Hatton had played into his strategy by trying to avoid his left hook, only to discover that he has a very strong right as well.

“I’m always doing my job in the ring, doing my best to make people happy,” he said in the immediate aftermath of the knockout blow.

“It’s nothing personal for me, I’m just doing my job.”

The defeat means Hatton has now lost his light-welterweight world title and unbeaten record in the 140lb division.

Commentators are already speculating it may spell the end of his career.

My Personal Notes

Let us respect Hatton for having the guts to go against Pacquiao. We know in the beginning that Pacman is too much for the Hitman. I admire hitman for trying his best and held his ground against Pacman. Boxing, like any martial arts or sports, let us respect your adversary or opponent. Let us give Hatton a round of applause and let’s celebrate Manny Pacquiao’s 6TH CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY!
